I came to Anupam sir in 2016, not having touched a violin for almost 10 years. I didn’t want to waste the old teachings of my grandfather, and Anupam sir took care of that and built on that foundation. Despite me being older than other beginners, he had the same care and patience for me, and within a year of being his student, I became confident enough to play in orchestras not only in Kolkata but also Japan and USA as well. I will always be grateful to sir for reigniting the passion for violin after a long gap, and for giving me the opportunity to perform abroad and represent my country. He continues to be in touch with me, advising me about music despite living in a different city, and I always remember his teachings when I practice by myself.

Anupam sirs teaching has been a blessing for my musical life. It has been quite a few years since I am learning from him and in those few years I have improved a lot. Emphasising on western music he also teaches us eastern music and all types of genres to make us as musicians versatile and flexible. I never thought I’ll come this far with music but since he has been teaching me music has became the most important part of my life and now I am determined to make it as my career. I have went to many competitions and done pretty well and get a distinction in my Trinity exams. All my musical skills right now is because of Anupam sir and I would have never be able to come this far without his support.

I have always been a music fanatic and on learning Violin that knowledge and likeness extended to the classical genre. Sir introduced me to the world of Western classical and the plethora of beautiful music that lies within it. He teaches with care and compassion paying attention to every detail. There have been times when he had to repeat the same things multiple times but every time he did it with patience. I am blessed to have a teacher, mentor and guide like Anupam Sir.

Where to begin when discussing the teacher single-handedly responsible for putting you on the path that would become your entire career? Anupam Sir introduced me to the violin. But more importantly, he inspired me and lit a fire in me from the age of 7. At 28 today I find myself, a performer, university lecturer and entrepreneur of music, still drawing from the same fire within.
It takes a lot of skill and guidance to even consider pursuing a formal education in Western Classical music when you start in India. Thankfully, Anupam sir gave me ample amounts of both to go all the way and acquire a Masters in Music from the University of West London with distinction.
